Ian Simpson is a mixed methods researcher in the Social Attitudes team at NatCen Social Research. He is currently working on a qualitative project looking at best practice in identifying survivors of abuse and violence. The project also explores the long term consequences experienced by survivors of abuse and the quality of support that survivors receive.
Ian is also working on the English Longitudinal Study of Aging (ELSA). This focuses on a representative sample of people aged 50 plus in England and examines a number of aspects of life, including physical health, finances, cognitive function and psychosocial wellbeing. He has been instrumental in delivering the nurse visit, which is taking place at ELSA Wave 6.
Ian has previously worked on a variety of projects, including: an evaluation of the Integrated Drug Treatment System in Prisons; an investigation of attitudes towards the sentencing of sexual offences amongst the public and survivors of sexual offences; and the Family Resources Survey.
