Tom is a mixed methods researcher in the Children, Families & Work team. Tom’s main research interests concern the intersections between poverty, gender, education and social policy.
Since joining the team in November 2015, Tom has worked on a broad range of projects. These include: an impact evaluation of the Mosaic mentoring programme which seeks to help disadvantaged young people raise and achieve their aspirations; and a JRF funded project investigating social and political attitudes amongst people on low incomes. More recently, Tom has worked on a randomised control trial of Employment and Support Allowance, commissioned by DWP.
Previously, Tom worked as a researcher at UCL on a project investigating the impact of a visual arts intervention in chronic pain management and treatment. Tom has a BA in Politics and Sociology, and an MSc in Social Research Methods from the London School of Economics.
