This one day course is designed to enable participants to use the new FrameWork software designed to support the Framework approach to qualitative data management. The course will be delivered through a series of practical demonstrations and exercises that will take participants through the process of using the software for data management, starting with project set up through to producing matrix displays of managed data. The day will not cover the process of interpreting the data which is covered on our two day analysis course.
All participants will receive a free 30 day trial version of the software to take away with them along with a training manual.

Course content covers:
- Overview of different approaches to qualitative data management
- Terminology used within the Framework approach and in the software
- Logging on, creating a new project and importing data
- Principles behind creating an analytic framework
- Creating and editing analytical frameworks
- Indexing and coding transcripts
- Creating and editing data summaries
- Appling data unit references
- Creating charts populated with summaries
- Retrieving coded data
- Undertaking text and thematic pattern searches

This course will be useful to you if you:
- are familiar with the Framework approach to qualitative data management and want to use the FrameWork software
- are experienced in other CAQDAS packages and want to understand how the FrameWork package compares to these
- have attended NatCen Learning’s analysis of qualitative data course and want to now learn how to use the software

By the end of the module participants will be able to:
- set up a project within the programme and import data
- construct and edit an analytical Framework
- create and edit data summaries
- produce charts showing summarised data and other data management outputs
