Roger Jowell Memorial Lecture
NatCen Social Research, the Social Research Association and City University held a memorial lecture for the founder of NatCen Social Research Professor Sir Roger Jowell.
Roger established Social and Community Planning Research (SCPR) which became NatCen Social Research, and was a key member of the small group which founded the SRA in 1978. Roger’s influence on the development of social research in the UK and more widely was immense.
Our speaker, Sir Andrew Dilnot, reflected on some aspects of his extensive social research contribution, which ranged from national and international social attitude surveys and political surveys to the establishment of ethical guidelines for social research and a concern with quality and rigour for social science and statistics.
