We are pleased to announce the release of version 1.0 of The Toolkit as of 10 March 2006

DfT-developed

The Local Travel Survey Toolkit has been developed by the Department for Transport in collaboration with the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) to help local authorities carry out local household travel surveys

Designed to be robust and cost-effective

The Toolkit has been designed to provide local authorities with a cost-effective means of collecting good quality survey data

Provides benchmarkable outputs

Local authorities which adhere closely to the methodology set out in The Toolkit can have greater confidence when monitoring trends over time or when comparing findings with data from other sources

Free of charge to local authorities

DfT is providing The Toolkit free of charge to local authorities, and until Summer 2007 is also offering free support to local authority users
