Who is The Toolkit for?

The Toolkit is designed for local authorities wishing to conduct a local household travel survey. Other organizations can download and make use of the Toolkit, however they will not be eligible to receive free support.

Do I need to have any particular skills to use The Toolkit?

LTS has been designed to be actionable even by local authorities which can make available just one member of staff, although this person needs to be numerate, well-organised, and ideally would have some experience of managing projects and working with contractors

Is it expensive to use?

LTS was developed in collaboration with local authorities. In designing it, careful consideration was given to the budgets and resources that local authorities would typically be able to make available. It is intended to provide local authorities with a cost-effective means to collect travel survey data. If you need detailed information about likely costs, please contact the DfT programme manager (click on “Supprt & Contact” for details of how to contact DfT).

Is there any support available?

Until Summer 2007, local authorities can access free support provided by NatCen on behalf of DfT. To find out how to access this support, click on “Support & Contact”
