NatCen Social Research appoints three new trustees
Leading independent social research institute NatCen Social Research has appointed three new members to its Board of Trustees.

Chair of the Board of Trustees, Professor Sir Robert Burgess said: "These three new Trustees are a welcome addition to the NatCen Board of Trustees. They add considerable research, financial and marketing expertise to the Board. The experience that NatCen’s new trustees will bring will enable us to continue to deliver our charitable objectives of doing research that works for society.”
Biographies of the new trustees:
Maureen Duffy started her career in an advertising agency before moving to BBC Television, where she set up its first marketing department. She then moved to ITV as Controller, Daytime Commissioning before leaving to set up the Newspaper Marketing Agency (NMA) where she was CEO for 9 years. Most recently Maureen was CEO of TNS UK. Maureen brings a wealth of business knowledge, business transformation, commercial, marketing and communication skills.
Dame Jil Matheson was National Statistician,Head of the Government Statistical Service, and Chief Executive of the UK Statistics Authority from 2009 until her retirement in 2014. She has chaired both the OECD’s Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy and the UN Statistical Commission. She brings expertise in social research and statistics, and is particularly interested in methodological innovation and operational excellence to ensure that research is high quality, timely, and accessible.
Stephen West is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years’ experience as divisional and group finance director of multi-site, multi-national corporations. He is currently a non-executive director of the Institute of Food Research (IFR), where he chairs the audit committee. He also chairs the strategy board for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales for the East of England. Stephen brings a considerable experience of successful financial management and governance. He will chair the NatCen audit committee.
