Sex offenders' experiences of prison

Researchers: Stephen Webster
Published: June 2014

Aim

This research will help inform the National Offender Management Service (NOMS) policies by identifying the benefits and drawbacks of offenders who have committed sexual offences being housed together while in prison.

The research will involve interviewing men who have been convicted of a sexual offence and are serving a custodial sentence.

It will explore their experience of being in prison - for example how they engage with staff, interact with each other, and how they could be supported to access treatment programmes.
