Smart Systems and Heat
Consumer Response and Behaviour
Published: September 2014
We are currently exploring how consumers interact with heat in the home, including the different ways people use heat and how these ways meet different needs.
Understanding these needs and behaviours will help designers of new, smart heat technology create better solutions that help people in their everyday life.
The research will also identify consumer response to some of the emerging concepts for smarter heat energy solutions that will supply energy and heat efficiently whilst helping the UK meet its long term emissions reduction target
Findings from this project are being published privately for our client.
Multi-method approach, involving qualitative workshops, the physical monitoring of energy use in homes and longitudinal in-depth qualitative interviews to explore needs and behaviours. A national survey will then be carried out to test and quantify findings from the qualitative strand of the study.
