Tax Credit & Child Benefit Study

Woman working out finances

Aim

Over the past six years we have asked a group of tax credits customers what it’s like to receive these benefits and how they’ve been affected by them.

The latest publication focused on the introduction to digital services and the transition to Universal Credit.

Method

The study started in 2008 when we interviewed 3,400 tax credits customers throughout the UK.

In 2009 we returned to the same people and contacted about a thousand additional families who received Child Benefit.

Between 2010 and 2012 we spoke to many of these people again to see how their experiences had changed. In 2013, we interviewed 987 households currently in receipt of tax credits.
