Evaluation of Project SUCCESS

We are evaluating Project SUCCESS, which aims to support students working towards resitting a maths or English GCSE, by texting students and/or nominated study supporters. The aim of the evaluation is to assess the impact of weekly texts providing academic resources, reminders and encouragement on student attainment and attendance, and to understand how these changes are achieved.

The evaluation will investigate whether receiving text messages (sent to the student, a nominated study supporter, or both) improves students’ GCSE Maths or English resit results and college attendance, compared to those who do not receive text messages.

The study will also look at whether impacts vary for students who have ever been eligible for free school meals and by gender.

This intervention was developed, and is being run, by the Behavioural Insights Team (BIT) and the intervention and evaluation are funded by the Education Endowment Foundation.
