Kathryn Yates

Senior Researcher

Kathryn (Kitty) is a Senior Researcher in the Health Policy and Social Care team. Prior to joining the National Centre for Social Researcher (NatCen), Kathryn was a Senior Scientist in the UKHSA COVID-19 Epidemiology Cell, where she developed and disseminated guidance, information and data on COVID-19 clusters and mortality to the public. She also examined COVID-19 case fatality rates by vaccination status in order to understand the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccination programme in England.

Kitty has a PhD in Psychiatric Epidemiology from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Her PhD work explored hallucinations as a risk marker for suicidal behaviour using cross-sectional survey data from the general UK population. Her research interests include the prediction and prevention of mental illness.
