ANNE Survey

This study asks for your views on any issues within your local environment and neighbourhood and the impact they might have on your life.

About the study

This study is funded by the Department for Transport and your response will contribute to informing key policy decisions related to issues in your local environment.

The survey covers a range of questions about your views on your local environment, any issues you have and how these can impact your life. There will also be some questions on your household and your health.

The online survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Full instructions on how to access the online questionnaire can be found on your invitation letter. You don’t have to complete the whole survey in one go – any progress you make will be saved and you can start where you left off when you next log in.

Why take part?

A token of our appreciation

As a thank you for taking part, we'll give you a £10 Love2Shop gift card which you can use at a range of high street shops. You can request to receive this either as an email or in the post.

How the study will make a difference

This study is really important because it will be used to inform key policy decisions relating to issues in your local environment.

A little time to make a big difference

It’s easy to skip this survey, but we hope you don’t. We’re not asking for money, just that you spare a little time to share your thoughts and opinions. We know your time is precious, but our work really does make a difference. We help government and charities to make the right decisions about the big issues.

What is involved?

Online survey

If you have received an invitation letter, up to two adults in your household aged 18 or older can take part in the survey. If there are more than two adults in your household, you may choose which two take part.

You can access the online questionnaire using this link: survey.natcen.ac.uk/ANNESurvey

Your invitation letter will include two unique codes to access the questionnaire. Please note that each code can only be used once.

If you can’t complete online, then you will receive a paper questionnaire in the post. We will also provide a pre-paid envelope which you can use to send back the completed paper questionnaire. If more than one person is completing the survey using a paper questionnaire, please send each back separately in the envelopes provided.

It shouldn’t take long

The questionnaire should only take around 20 minutes of your time. The survey covers a range of questions about your views on your local environment, any issues you have and how these can impact your life. There will also be some questions on your household and your health.

Taking part in future studies

At the end of the questionnaire, you will be asked for permission to be contacted about taking part in future studies. If you say yes, this does not mean you have to take part. The researchers who contact you will explain what the study would involve and you will be free to refuse if you do not want to take part.

Why have I been chosen?

Why you’re so important to us

We’ve chosen your address at random to make sure we get a truly representative picture of everyone in Britain. Your address can’t be replaced by anyone else, as this would bias the results.

We want to hear from everyone

It’s really important to us and our clients that our research represents the views of everyone living in the UK. Whoever you are, whatever you think, your opinion is important to us. Taking part is an opportunity to tell influential people who make the decisions in government and charities what you really think.

Privacy notice

In this privacy notice, we explain the legal basis for data processing, who will have access to your personal data, how your data will be used, stored and deleted and who you can contact with a query or a complaint.
