Evaluation of Shared Parental Leave and Pay scheme and the Right to Request Flexible Working

Evaluation of Shared Parental Leave and Pay scheme and the Right to Request Flexible Working

NatCen has been asked by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) to carry out a study to understand how well the Right to Request Flexible Working (FW) and Shared Parental Leave (SPL) are working for employees and employers.

Your perspective is very important to help us make a fair assessment of the policies and understand how well they are working for staff and employers in Britain.

As part of this research we are conducting workplace ‘case studies’. This means we will interview different people within each workplace to capture a range of perspectives and experiences of the policies. These interviews will be conducted between January and March 2020.

We would like to talk to:

  • Employees who used Shared Parental Leave or Flexible Working
  • Employees who were eligible but did not take up/request Shared Parental Leave or Flexible Working
  • Line managers of these employees
  • Senior staff at employees’ organisation

If your organisation employs staff who have taken up Adoption Leave and Pay or Unpaid Parental Leave, we would also like to talk to them.

Please note:

  • You may have been contacted about this research in June-September 2019. We have now extended the time for conducting interviews into 2020.
  • You may have been contacted by QRS, an external recruitment agency, about participating in this research. They are conducting recruitment calls on behalf of NatCen.
